View the latest post Scientists Grow New Eyes (In Tadpoles)
Last post by: SirReal  •  Forum: CraZy StufF Thu Nov 20, 2008 7:57 pm

Restoring sight: Scientists removed one eye from tadpoles (left image) and then implanted genetically engineered stem cells in its place. They grew to form a functioning eye (right). Credit: Michael Zuber

When transplanted onto frog embryos that had had one eye removed, the cells developed into all seven types of cells found in the retina and also grew connections to the appropriate target in the brain. Swim tests showed that the new eyes functioned properly: tadpoles stayed in the part of their tank with a white background, which is normal tadpole behavior, rather than a black background.

It's not clear if the same genetic programming would work in mammalian cells: frogs have much greater regenerative potential than mammals to begin with, and it's difficult to simultaneously express all the required transcription factors in mammalian cells for technical reasons. But Zuber hopes to use the frog system to find chemicals that activate the transcription factors...

View the latest post Hitler Only Had One Nut, They Call It Monorchic
Last post by: SirReal  •  Forum: CraZy StufF Thu Nov 20, 2008 2:53 pm

Until now there has never been complete proof Hitler was monorchic – the medical term for having one testicle.
But the document tells how Johan saw the proof with his own eyes. In the account, he relives the horror of serving as an army medic in World War I.

Saved Hitler ... Johan Jambor

He died aged 94 in 1985, but had told his secret to priest Franciszek Pawlar, who kept a note of their conversation.
Johan’s friend Blassius Hanczuch confirmed the priest’s account of how the medic saved Hitler’s life. He said: “In 1916 they had their hardest fight in the Battle of the Somme.
“For several hours, Johan and his friends picked up injured soldiers. He remembers Hitler.
“They called him the ‘Screamer’. He was very noisy. Hitler was screaming ‘help, help’.
“His abdomen and legs were all in blood. Hitler was injured in the abdomen and lost one testicle. His first question to the doctor was: ‘Will I be able to have children?’.”

A GRANDMOTHER hacked her 71-year-old husband to death with a machete because she thought he was seeing other women, a court has been told.

Kamalavati Sundar, 70, pleaded not guilty in the Supreme Court jury in Brisbane today to murdering her husband Ram as he slept in their Woodridge home in December 2005.

Mr Sundar was found lying face-down in bed with at least 14 machete wounds to his head and the top of his arms, prosecutor Angus Edwards told the court, the Courier-Mail reports.

Mr Edwards said the couple appeared to have a happy and loving marriage apart from Mrs Sundar's "jealous streak".

"On the night of the killing it all came to a head," he said.

After a family gathering at the couple's home, Mrs Sundar accused her husband of having an affair with his grandson's maternal grandmother, Mr Edwards said.

He told the jury the Fijian-born man went to bed after telling his wife he intended to leave her because of her...

Cheney is charged with engaging in an organized criminal activity related to the vice president's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds financial interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees because of his link to the prison companies.

View the latest post Quad core / quad core extreme / AMD / Intel anyone?
Last post by: empire00  •  Forum: Computers, Internet Thu Nov 20, 2008 2:26 pm

i would sugest shying away from the sli boards unless you think you really need one they seem to be about 3-7% slower than the intel chipsets from what ive read. the x48 x58 are the fastest northbridges by far but are about equal in performance. something like this would be good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813136046

also on the cooler front if you dont mind spending the extra $10 the core contact freezer is currently the best air cooler on the market and is very reasonably priced. the heat pipes actualy bend down and touch the surface of the cpu instead of a plate.

Take this seriously and pass it along
In China, ANYTHING made with Chinese-manufactured milk powder before September 14th was PULLED from their store shelves.

In the US, this garbage is still being sold!
